North Curry and The Somerset Levels

We are situated in the heart of the charming village of North Curry which perches on a ridge of hills surrounded by the hauntingly beautiful Somerset levels.

It is an area rich in history and stunning countryside. You can walk for miles often not seeing another soul, just herons, swans and marsh birds and acres of softly coloured willow.

In the early spring the fields are white with hundreds of swans that come to the wetlands to mate. In the Autumn the levels boast the now famous Starling dances, which really do have to be seen to be believed.

With the crazy shapes of ancient willow trees and the amazing sunsets it's an artists paradise and North Curry certainly has its fair share of talent.

Village Amenities

North Curry has a lot to offer the visitor. There is the Willows and Wetlands Visitor Centre nearby that has pre-arranged guided tours, tearooms and masses of willow creations for sale.

North Curry itself is a pretty village that boasts an excellent pub, The Bird in Hand, serving an extensive menu of gourmet food and a range of good quality wines.

There is also a well-stocked shop and post office to be found in the village square.

The village church of St. Peter & St. Paul is known as "The Cathedral of the Moor" and aptly so as it is magnificent structure and has spectacular views from the north west side across the levels. The church is open for viewing most days and is well worth a visit. For those wishing to attend services please ask when booking your stay.
